I Proclaim This "New Southwester Ontario"

Okay, I don't want to go all Homer Simpson on everyone, but Windsor is about to turn into Springfield:

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/NEWS/RELEASES/2002/r020422.htm

I'm now waiting for my invitation to area code camp. Stupid 10-digit dialing. Where's Phoney McRing-Ring when you need him?

"Excuse me, Phoney, I have a question". Classic.

So, do I get to be mayor of new Southwest Ontario? Is The Who gonna play here? What about the wall of garbage? I bet no one thought of that did they?

I would much rather they just cut the whole region in two and make half of us remember that we're in a new area code (the way it's been done), rather then this double-code business.

Heh.

I must be understanding something wrong: why not just add a new area code when the existing one runs out of phone #'s, and keep it to 7 digit dialing for 519 numbers.

But the problem here is that people who get new phone #'s (with the new area code) will never get people to remember to dial all 10 digits if they aren't forced to it for all phone numbers (which is the reason I believe they are implementing as such.)

Better than the Springfield split, but still sucks. I'm too lazy.

'Doh

Isn't it funny how everything, and I mean everything, comes back to the Simpsons? :)

I think the idea is that this way no one has to change phone numbers. If you currently have a number it stays the same, and if you get a new number, well, it's new anyway.

I see what you're saying Matt, you wouldn't think it'd be that hard to just default to 519. Like if you're calling from a 519 number, it should assume you're dialing another 519 number (like it does now), and if you are dialing a non-519 number, then you have to dial 1-xyz then the number (again, like it does now).

The scary thing is, when we were on the phone earlier in the week, this Simpsons episode came on while we were talking...it was a prophecy told by the Simpsons.

I've decided that I'm just going to fill up my speed dial with 10 numbers, and I will refuse to call anyone else.

"We're sorry the number cannot be completed as dialed." Just watched that one yesterday.
"It's ringing..." he says angerly. Classic.
Anyway speaking of the Simpsons we're going to a play tonight called MacHomer performed by Rick Miller who does a ton of the shows voices.

Did'nt think we were going to be able to go but we are. Will let you know how it goes.
BTW love you're new pic, why Kenna is not more mainstream is beyond me.

I figured you would be the only one to get my pic :)

The play sounds like fun, let me know how it is.
