Hearing music without a speaker?

I know, you think I must be on an acid trip, but check this out:

This guy invented what I'll call a "Direct to ear" sound system. He points the antenna at you and you hear it, but no one else does because there's no speaker.

This guy will be a very rich man.

He's already very rich. He's invented tons of stuff, selling for millions a piece :) Must be nice :)

I saw him demonstrate his sound device on the discovery channel. At that time, I thought it worked on some sort of noise cancellation to direct the "beam" of sound. That link you posted poses a neater explanation :) Higher frequencies beaming. Neat.

Hasn't the US military been using this stuff already for over a year? Apparently it can make for an awesome riot control device, since they could mount these sound gun thingies onto a humvee, which focus a beam of sound. The poor sap gets hit with what sounds like +120dB white noise, and the guy shooting the thing doesn't even need earplugs.
